I’m Nicola Macleod.

Having a dynamic career of more than 12 years, with experience in a variety of fields within my profession and as a biokineticist and strength trainer, focusing on the gym based strength training of the Chinese National Rowing Team for the Rio 2016 Olympics and South African Rowing team, which included the 2012 Olympic gold medallists and 2013 World Champions. I’ve been involved in a variety of health and wellness initiatives and interventions in small and large scale corporate companies, including; health and wellness assessments and interventions, educational seminars, work related injury-risk assessment and prevention strategies. In fulfilling my passion, as a dancer and sportswoman and incorporating my knowledge, I teach and train athletes, clients and students about optimising their bodies through movement. As a biokineticist specialising in a variety of fields including lower back pain, knee and hip pain, shoulder pain, pre and post operative conditions, high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes and insulin resistance (blood sugar levels), high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), fibromalgia and weight loss.

I’m Rochelle Coomber.

Having been an artistic gymnast for a great portion of my life, it instilled my passion and interest for movement and exercise. I completed my Honours degree in Biokinetics in 2016, at the University of Pretoria. I also obtained my BASI Pilates Instructor Certificate in 2015. I want to encourage others to find a passion in movement and exercise, and teach individuals the vast amount of benefits exercise provides. I enjoy applying the knowledge that I have learnt throughout my studies and through my years of training, to assist people using exercise. I am focused in both rehabilitation and body conditioning to help prevent injuries and improve performance. I am particularly interested in the rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries to optimise the patient’s quality of life after injury.

I’m Kim Decina (van Zyl).

I completed my MSc Biokinetics degree, with distinction, in October 2017, with the thesis titled: ‘The effect of the Pilates method of exercise on the pain & functionality of the upper extremities in female office workers in Pretoria’. I also obtained my Honours degree in both Biokinetics and Sports Science, with distinction, and was awarded student of the year award in 2014, at the University of Pretoria. As an ex-international Artistic gymnast, I have a passion for an active lifestyle, which opened the door to a career in which I could encourage others to do the same. Having a strong background in sport enables me to apply those techniques and principles to my work as a Biokineticist, specifically during injury rehabilitation or prevention. I have experience in working with a variety of orthopaedic and sports injuries, as well as the rehabilitation of individuals with chronic diseases and disabilities including Obesity, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes, Stroke and Brain Injuries and child growth and development. My goal is to improve the quality of life for all my patients, with the use of exercise.

I’m Gary Miller.

I have completed my Honours in Biokinetics with distinction and Honours in Sport Science at the University of Pretoria, obtaining the BASA Biokinetics Association Award for best student in Biokinetics. I also had the opportunity to present my Honours research thesis, titled ‘The prevalence of supplement intake among gymnasium attendees in Pretoria’, at the Life Through Movement International Conference in 2016, which will soon be published. I have a passion for working with athletes, having assisted in the rehabilitation and conditioning of South African Olympic and high performance athletes. I aim to improve the quality of life for all patients with orthopedic injuries and chronic diseases. I am eager to demonstrate my knowledge and skills to prove that Biokinetics can help clients improve their physical well-being and quality of life through movement.
